Destinations Update

• Sherwin Meadows Trailhead will have temporary closures and detours as constructions occurs for the new trailhead infrastructure. For more information click HERE.
   
  Geothermal pipeline maintenance work is occurring near the Knolls Loop. Clearly marked detour routes will be provided to allow pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicular traffic to navigate around the work areas. More information can be found on the Inyo NF site.
   
  Inyo National Forest fuels management specialists will be conducting up to 190 acres of mowing and mastication along Sherwin Creek Road (Forest Service Road 4S08) and Mammoth Creek Road (Forest Service Road 3S09) starting September 3 and continuing through the fall. Operation hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  There will be no impacts to nearby trailheads or campgrounds. However, please use caution when driving around the heavy equipment operating in the area. For more information click HERE.
   
  Starting July 1^st, 2024, The Inyo National Forest & BLM Bishop Field Office will be in fire restrictions to protect natural resources and provide for public safety. Dispersed campfires on the ground will no longer be permitted. However, campfires in designated developed recreation sites and portable stoves will be allowed with a CA campfire permit.
