  • The Mammoth Lakes Trail System offers dozens of miles of world-class groomed and ungroomed trails for cross-country skiing. Kick and glide or skate-ski from the Welcome Center on the MLTS Nordic Trail System at Shady Rest. Share the snowmobile tracks from the Mammoth Scenic Loop around the Inyo Craters, or, when conditions are good, head to the winter staging areas at Shady Rest Park or the Sherwin Meadows Trailhead. Equipment rentals are available in town and at the Tamarack Lodge Cross-Country Ski Center.

Avalanche Forecast for 11/15/2024

  • AVALANCHE FORECAST: Modest snowfall has begun to build our snowpack. Snow totals have been limited, with accumulations ranging from a dusting to about 13" at favored weather stations in the northern half of the forecast area. While avalanche concerns are minimal at the moment, it's important to remember the old adage: if there is enough snow to ride, there is enough snow to slide. Find out More
