Paddleboarding

  • The ancient pastime of Hawaiian watermen has made its way to the High Sierra. On any given day, especially during calm mornings, you'll see adults and kids alike gliding across the glassy surface of any of the road-accessible lakes in the Lakes Basin, from Twin Lakes to Lake George, or, to the south, on Convict Lake. Standing or kneeling, there's no better vantage from which to appreciate the silvery flash of wild trout, the crystal-clear water or the snow-striped peaks beyond. Bring your own board and paddle or rent a full setup at Lake Mary's Pokonobe Lodge or from one of the sport shops in town.
