Crossing the San Joaquin on the Soda Springs Bridge, just beyond the Devils Postpile ranger station, you immediately enter the Ansel Adams Wilderness. The Anona Lake trail climbs approximately 5 miles from its trailhead at the junction with the John Muir/Pacific Crest Trail up to Fern Lake, and from there another 1.5 miles to Anona Lake, at the base of Iron Mountain. Return the way you came, or make a loop by following King Creek to Beck's Cabin and the Superio Lake Trail.
