Accessed by a steep climb from the Twin Lakes Campground, this trail cuts up and across loose volcanic scree along the south flank of Mammoth Mountain to a classic viewpoint from which to survey the whole of the Mammoth Lakes Basin: Mary, Mamie, Twin Lakes, Horseshoe, TJ and George. The seventh lake would be Crowley, across the valley to the east toward the White Mountains. The loop comprises one leg marked "easy" and another "more demanding." The latter provides heady exposure and a good view down into the "Bottomless Pit" lava tube, aka "Hole in the Wall." This trail has been affected by adverse weather or natural disaster. Repairs have not yet been made and hazardous conditions may exist.
