The gentle slope of the Downtown mountain bike trail makes it a relatively easy ride that's popular with families and novices. It's a downhill directional trail (uphill riders should use Uptown) and is open when the snow melts. Downtown meanders through a pine forest and offers mountain views through the trees. The public section starts at the turnoff to the Earthquake Fault; the segment above this junction requires a Mammoth Mountain Bike Park pass. For a longer, more challenging descent, take the Mountain View trail from Minaret Vista to Downtown and ride it all the way to the trailhead on Minaret Road.
