Sherwin Lakes Trail offers a good short climb with grand views across the caldera and the town, a gentle grade, and multiple switchbacks ending at a small subalpine lake. It's a popular trail, especially in the early summer when the water in the lake is high and the weather is cooler, so keep your eyes out for hikers and trail runners. There are restrooms and generally plenty of room for staging at the trailhead parking area, off Sherwin Creek Road. There's a fun creek crossing right at the beginning, worth scouting when the creek is high. The lake is a great place for picnicking and fishing.
