Hiking the Panorama Dome Trail

Do you have Hiking Experiences you'd like to share? Find out How!

  • This short, well-regarded hike is aptly named for its panoramic views of the area. It's also quieter and more removed than busier parts of the Lakes Basin. Hikers only, please, bikes are not allowed on this trail. From the Lakes Basin Trolley stop and parking area at Twin Lakes Vista, cross Lake Mary Road and follow the Lakes Basin Path over the bridge, past the mountain bike trailheads, to the Panorama Dome Hiking Trail. The dirt trail gradually becomes steeper as it climbs through pines and out into the tangled fields of manzanita on the backside of the Dome. The loop around the top can be done in either direction, but save the best views for last by going counterclockwise.
