Starting from the trailhead at the Lake George day-use area, this moderate out-and-back hike provides terrific views for little effort. The trail crosses the Lake George outlet stream then meanders gradually up through lodgepole pines, hemlocks, western white pines, penstemon and fireweed to the shore of tiny Barrett Lake. User trails near Barrett can be confusing, so stay to your right along the main path. At the trail junction, climb a short ridge over to TJ Lake with its unique view of Crystal Crag. Before you head back down from TJ, see if you can spot Labrador tea and mountain heather along the shoreline.
