Trail Running the Mammoth Rock Trail

Do you have Running Experiences you'd like to share? Find out How!

  • Start your run at Mammoth Creek Park West, which allows for a nice warm-up on flatter terrain. The first section of the trail is a grind: up, up, up! Once you reach the rockslide area, enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view, including Mammoth Rock. At the upper trailhead you can turn around and run back the same way you came or, to make a more interesting loop, take the steep downhill on Old Mammoth Road. Once you reach Waterford Avenue, hop on the Town Loop and enjoy the path until Minaret Road. Cross the road, then run along the creek on a dirt use-trail. Get back on the Town Loop to finish your run at the park.

“This is a mind blowing trail with incredible views. The run down Old Mammoth can bang on your knees though, as it is all asphalt. Next time I will turnaround so I get two chances to enjoy the ridge view. Keep an ear and eye open for mountain bikers around corners, I ran in to about 10 on my run.”
