This loop is a combination of dirt trail and paved multi-use path that circumnavigates Horseshoe Lake, one of the best-loved pet destinations in Mammoth. The trail starts off wide and sandy but eventually narrows to singletrack that weaves through the pines and around the lake. You'll cross several streams--quick water breaks for the dog and a chance for you to take in the alpine air. The forest provides plenty of exciting smells to keep your dog engaged as well! Connect with the Lakes Basin Path on the northeast corner of the lake to return to the day-use area, where you can reward your dog with some swim time!
