Snowplay

Snowplay from the Scenic Loop

Do you have Snowplay Experiences you'd like to share? Find out How!

  • The Mammoth Scenic Loop offers numerous opportunities to access snow and quality downhill sledding terrain in the open, old-growth Jeffrey pine forest not far from Hwy 203. There's no developed sledding area but everything out here is fair game. Park in one of the dedicated pull-out parking areas along the east side of the road. Pick a slope that matches your daring, forge an uptrack, and let 'er rip!

Avalanche Forecast for 02/22/2025

  • AVALANCHE FORECAST: A small Wet Loose avalanche, a falling cornice, or a person's weight could trigger a dangerous avalanche that breaks on buried weak layers in the snowpack. To mitigate this hazard, choose lower-angle slopes, avoid overhead hazards, and maintain wide safety margins. As temperatures climb, move to shady slopes before the surface snow gets too wet.
