Set in a grove of aspens and Jeffrey pines along the shores of lower Sherwin Creek, this well-shaded campground offers 70 standard unpaved sites and 15 walk-in sites. Its easy access to the motocross track and roads makes it a popular base for OHV enthusiasts, especially during the Mammoth Motocross event in late June. For the rest of the season, Sherwin Creek provides a peaceful alternative to the busier campgrounds in the Lakes Basin and offers good stream fishing and access to the John Muir Wilderness by way of the Sherwin Lakes and Valentine Lake trails.
