Biking

Family Biking the Lakes Basin Path

Do you have Biking Experiences you'd like to share? Find out How!

  • This ride is a steady 5.3-mile climb up to the Lakes Basin, passing Twin Lakes, Lake Mary, and Lake Mamie on the way to its endpoint at Horseshoe Lake. The scenic views encompass the Mammoth Crest and the back side of the Sherwin Range. A moderate fitness level is needed, so be sure younger children are up to the challenge. A bicycle with gears is a good choice; riding a single-speed will increase the difficulty level. Bathrooms and water are available at the Twin Lakes General Store. On your return trip, be courteous to uphill riders, obey the 15 mph speed limit, and be sure you have a set of good brakes!
