The Horseshoe Boulder is a popular, scenic and pleasantly shady bouldering spot right in the Mammoth Lakes Basin, with easy access from the Lakes Basin Path just east of the Horsehoe Lake Picnic Area. There's a great range of challenges—from beginner problems near the ground (no pad necessary) to bigger advanced routes. It's an excellent place to teach and learn the subtleties of the sport, with duffy, forgiving landings, views of Horseshoe Lake through the trees, and plenty of icy-cold lake water to dip in after a tough session!
