Deer Creek Trail 3.6 mi

  • Inside the John Muir Wilderness, just under 2 miles south of Upper Crater Meadow on the John Muir/Pacific Crest Trail, take the left-hand fork to follow the Deer Creek Trail up to its junction with the Mammoth Crest Trail at Deer Lakes. From there the trail continues for another 1.9 miles over to connect with the Duck Pass Trail above Duck Lake.

“Easy pleasant family hike. 4 yr old and 62 yr old both enjoyed the easy stroll thru history. Great finds; flowers, mine equipment, mind shaft, tailings, and buildings along a flat shaded trail. Great for our little people.”
