Road Biking the Mammoth Scenic Loop

Do you have Biking Experiences you'd like to share? Find out How!

  • Recent road improvements have made this ride better than ever! A quick spin up Minaret Road from the North Village gets you to the Scenic Loop, which has a marked bike lane on both sides; the uphill lane is a little wider to allow for riders weaving around on the climb. Three ramps are somewhat steeper, but there's relief in between, and the 6-mile runout to Hwy. 395 is pure downhill delight. Ride south 6 miles on 395 to its junction with Hwy. 203, then take this turnoff back up to town. (Many locals turn around at 395 and ride back up the Scenic Loop for the exercise and the serenity of a quiet road.) Highway traffic can be heavy in summer.
